Through its program of quarterly exhibitions House of Contemporaries (previously known as 14TH CINEMA), aims to facilitate dialogue and critical thought on the subject of transdisciplinary artistic expression. Its mission is to establish a cultural infrastructure that supports an experimental approach to the dissemination of visual culture; by means of promoting collaborative approaches to both artist practice and exhibition. A testing ground for new thoughts and actions, the main characteristic of the happening is its experimental curatorial approach. House of Contemporaries gathers emerging artists and creatives who question the boundaries of their respective medium and those who are willing to establish new artist-spectator relationships through expanded media and experimental practices born out of contemporary social and political concerns.

Founded by transdisciplinary artist Divine Southgate-Smith and located in the Shoreditch apartment shared with 3 of her contemporaries: Claire Tournemine (Fashion Designer), Nicolo Pablo Venerdi Betiol (Art Director)  and Maite DeObre (Photographer).
